Saturday, 5 September 2009 - Tulip Festival


10,000 tulips will flower in the Victorian Garden to celebrate the festival. A cultural event will be held in the Pavilion with Market Stalls presenting Dutch food, art and craft and also a display of Dutch flower growers. There will be live music and performances from the Waikato Dutch Folkdancers.  

At 7.30pm on Saturday the 5th there will be a debate in which two teams of five people of Dutch descent will debate the pros and cons of “The Dutch should build a dyke across the firth of Thames (no finger required)". The pro team is Hamilton City Council & business people against the Waikato University team. Door sales at $5 with profits going towards fundraising for next year's Tulip Festival.
