The nice thing about an evening with Penny Ashton and her Hot Pink Bits show is that you come away feeling so terrbily educated. Over the course of a happy hour Mistress Ashton sings and sashays across the stage delivering pearls of wisdom, facts, figures and fantasies.
Unfortunately none of what she tells you can ever be repeated in polite company but at least you can be secure in the knowledge that, should you be called upon, you now know the major players in the world's oldest profession and 15 types of fetish.
Ashton is an engaging performer who simultaneously put the audience at ease while demostrating just what a corset can do for a gal.
While a number of chaps in the audience lost all communicative powers the instant she took her coat off, those of us still concentrating on the words were treated to a witty and informative display on a variety of themes. Well, one theme actually, but as it happens, in a variety of ways.
The audience is a vital part of the show and the diverse crowd enjoyed the way she encouraged interaction and participation. We must thank Brian and the other folk in the audience who entertained in what were some of the best moments of the evening, while acknowledging Ashton, who was well in control of the mood and responses, ad-libbing freely and intergrating new information cleverly.
